Hilo’s Russell Mizuguchi scored a split-decision victory over Michael Nakagawa at Bellator 213 on Saturday night at Neal Blaisdell Arena in a flyweight bout (125 pounds).

Mizuguchi’s fight was delayed and got pushed back to the end of the main card, which featured Ilima-Lei Macfarlane submitted Valerie Letourneau in the third round.

He had to adjust his warmup and got in a meal before the fight, where he injured his knee. He’s currently healing up and waiting for another fight offer.

“No feelers yet but hopefully soon,” he said. “Bellator had nothing but good things to say. They were definitely impressed.”

Hilo’s Chris Cisneros was submitted by Maki Pitolo in the third round at welterweight (170 pounds).

Former Hilo fighter Toby Misech scored a TKO over Edward Thomas at Bellator 212 on Friday at featherweight (145 pounds).

His performance was one of the more impressive ones on the day.
